My first model "Thingy"

Hi all, this is my first real model that I have attempted and pushed through fixing the problems as I go. I am basically a newbie at this. I am hoping for some advice about coloring and textures for the model.

how would I create a lumpy (non uniform) texture?

wow way better then when i first started im still considered a newbe but anywase … depends on what ur goin for i use noise and stucci a lot when i do uneven
