My scale isnt working!!!!

I have a cube, its selected, i hit S, i get the <–> with the stretchy line, im in object mode, but no scaling

On the 3d view header ensure you have not enabled the ‘manipulate center points’ button. It is situated immediately to the right of the pivot point selection (read the tool tips)
