Thank you. To be honest I’m interested in the final result as well as you are
Ok, first part of work is done. If anyone spot anything that needs improvement - tell me, criticism is always appreciated. Anyway, now it’s time for UV’s and textures.
Did you use shapekey or bones or both to achieve facial expression ? Very good result!
We need your help about a subject. Especially Jorge Bernier.
Really nice character design.
I dunno why, but I could picture an animation where her face accidentally pops off, and then she’s scrambling and panicking to put it back on. And then you could show the Terminator or creepy baby like Daft Punk’s Technologic type mechanisms underneath. All acting like she’s going to give somebody a startle… That “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” kind of thing after getting it back on. And then the other person is like - just chilll, it turns out they’re cyborg/android too. It’d be something weird and funny that would show her personality.
@J0n Thanks. Well, face is nearly entirelly made with shape keys. There’s only one deforming bone for whole head, and 2 bones for eyeballs. Of course I’m using bones in facial rig, but mostly just to control shape keys, not to deform face directly. It can be seen in a video a few post earlier.
@pauljs75 Thank you. I have to admit, that it’s not bad idea at all. Earlier, I even had an idea for something similar. The difference was, that she took off her face intentionally. Her reaction was also different because she, as a cyborg, doesn’t see anything strange or awkward in taking off her body parts. Honestly for now I have rough idea for whole animation, but that doesn’t mean I can’t change or add some scenes. So if anybody have any ideas, feel free to share them. I would love to read it
Good work! Now you will enjoy the rigging process xD.
It’s going to be pure fun
Time for a small update. Some people told me that this facial expressions is not good at all. In that case I decided to make it once again from scratch. I wasn’t satisfied with this face as well, so I’ve made new sculpt and later a whole new head based on that. Hopefully now it’s a little bit closer to original concept.
Small demo from viewport:
Rigging is done, simulations are working, light is slightly changed, some materials upgraded. Collar is no longer moving with head and now it reacts to the rest of the body. If I have not screwed up anything, second character is finished and ready for animation.
