Near future Game engine demo (60fps)

It’s not a game, just a test, My Intel 2.4 Ghz runs it at 60fps (854x480) and 30fps (1366x768)

I made this scene in two days, using free brick textures and a 360º photo.
Sky texture is not very well mapped. Anyway I liked the scene a lot and I made one car a bit “playable”.
That brown polygonal things, are supossed to be ultra efficient solar panels from a near future :).

Update: I used baked ambient occlusion on the houses and the grass, and added a “night” option. It still uses real time ssao. I should have set that white pool to “flat” It is not looking “real”

Some screens

Have a screenshot? I love futuristic games.

I’ll add some screens but it is not a game, is just a scene. I like to use ge to make real time scenes.

That looks really good, I am liking it.

The shadows are really dark and the trees are kind of low-detail. Other than that, it’s pretty good looking. Not bad.

You are right, I don’t understad very well the spot shdow options, shadows would look more “blue” in real life.

Updated video and screenshots

Looks awsome! for some reason it kinda reminds me of the animated movie “planet 51”

Hey … I must have copied it you are right LOL… I liked the graphics in that film. :eyebrowlift:

I think the cars in planet 51 are very similar but they have little wheels in the middle.

thanks.

looks really good! what filters do you use to make the colours so colourful? or so full of contrast?

Your skybox/skydome is way too small. You can see that it clips the ground. Scale your ground bigger and skybox bigger. You can always add fog so that you fade from ground to the skybox far away.

Looks nice, reminds me on “destroy all humans”.

Some critics:

  • the street is a bit small
  • there is nothing to sidewalk.
  • The reflections disturb the comic look (e.g. water, windows and nightly street).
  • The water in the pool seems not to fit a pool (to wavy).
  • The wind engine looks to less futuristic - you might have a look at http://german.alibaba.com/products/wind-turbines-for-home.html (just a quick search).
  • Solar panels might fit on the roofs as well ;).

I like it

Monster

Thanks!

The skybox is small because I used just one spot lamp to simulate the sun (and moon) so, I couldn’t make the scene too big.
If I use a sun lamp, it produces reflection even in the shadows, and it looks bad.

The game engine should have an ortographic shadow option, so that you don’t have to use spot lamps, and the scene could be much bigger.

I used reflections to make it more real, I didn’t want to make it comic.

The scene is colourfull because it seemed too dark with real time ambient occlusion activated, so I set the spot lamp much more brighter and it also added more contrast.

The pool doesnt fit at all… It should have no animated texture I think.

It sems very real to me, but it’s true the colours are too strong, do you think the colours should be darker to look more realistic?

Of course, this is supossed to be a future scene, so the cars, wind turbines, solar panels etc… are meant to be different to the ones we have today.

for me it looks great! congratulations!
