Need help with lip rigging

Can someone please help me with tips to rig lips? I’ve made 2 armature setups for it and deleted them both bc they were kinda ass :sob: I tried using normal bones that control sections of the lips and a bendy bone cage setup for more fluid movement, but they really weren’t moving like I wanted them to. I’ve got a picture of it below as a visual aid.

I would think 6 bones would be a minimum. It looks as if you only have 2.

I made two lip rigs beforehand and deleted both bc they weren’t working and I didn’t think weight painting what I had wasn’t going to improve it.

Here, take a look at this

It’s what I would consider a basic lip rig. The deform bones are 5 segment Bendy Bones so as you look this over, you’ll want to change the display type from Octahedral to B-Bone to see how they move. Pretty simple. There are 3 bone collections - CTRL, DEF, & MCH. The mechanism (MCH) collection has 2 bones at the same location as the corner of the mouth bones and they are parented to the mouth controller. These bones move downward when the mouth is opened and the corner of the mouth controller bones copy the location of them 50%. So the corner of the mouth control bones move downward somewhat when the mouth is opened.

Blender 4.2 file but should open fine in newer versions.

Let me know if you have any questions,
