Need some help with a 2.7x tutorial in 2.8

Hi Folks:

I am working on building some trees using Zach Reinhardt’s tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtUS8QTsVZA) and I have hit a bump that I dont know how to do in 2.8 and I could really use some help .

Starting at 13:53 (https://youtu.be/BtUS8QTsVZA?t=833) Zach begins describing how to use blender render and a matcap to create a normal map, Obviously, blender render is not available in 2.8, nor can I find the matcaps. So I am not quite sure how to make this work – could someone please explain to me how to do this, or how to do the equivalent a different way? (the segment runs through about 15:40)

Thanks
TIM

Hope this is what you were looking for!

yes it is, thank you, only one question now, How do I render it with the matcap on it?

TIM

You can either do it with View>Viewport Render Image (which will require turning overlays and stuff off), or change Render Engine to Workbench and choose a Matcap there and hit F12

You are welcome and John just answer to your question on how to render it!
