Hi everyone, I’ve been at work hard on a model I want to use in a game but everytime I see other peoples work they seem to have a nicer flow in their work. I try to do that but eventually I just keep adding more. I am trying to make a high poly version first and then reduce it later but Idk, I just feel like I can do better or maybe its just I keep looking at others work I can’t seem to focus. Anyone here have any tips on how I can maybe fix this or is it ok? I see people use less verts and still get a smooth look cause I know they are using the n curves from 3ds max/maya while we use subdivision surf.
Sorry if I did a bad job, its my first actual model I spent the most time on compared to other simple ones. It seems humans are slighty tough to model but not impossible.
Here are some pics of different views with and without wires and sorry I wish I could add more, maybe later:
it’s not a bad job. you have more polys than you need though. check into ways of simplifying edge loops so that you don’t end up with a lot of unnecessary polygons in regions such as the front and side of the head. on the other hand, you could use those to form an ear. which are difficult. there are some ear tutorials out there, but I would suggest just making a simple toonish one.
Hey thank you for the feedback, yeah I agree and thats what I noticed was it was just too many poly’s and it made everything messy, I managed to clean it up as best as I can and reduced the amount. It was at 3400+ polys without subsurf and I manage to lower it to 2100 area which is great. I think I might model the fingers together or something since no one is gonna really look at them much. Here is the result of it so far, some areas are flat but I’m gonna try to fix it. Here is the result, its a bit more better or maybe its way better now.
