Finally I have completed my first living creature. :yes:This fat little thing really make me crazy for the pass month. A lot of things still need to be improved:no:. A lot of things I am still wondering why and how but I am totally wear off now. No more stamina and need a little rest. Thanks everyone for giving a hand when I was having night mare with this fat thing :D. I will continue to learn and hopefully with have bigger improvement soon.
very cool but i dont remember nemo being that fat
Well if you are going for Nemo from Disney-Pixar’s Finding Nemo it shouldn’t be fat. And his skin looks like plastic. Then again, you said you knew there were problems. But not knowing what you said: that is what I think of it. Keep trying!
Did you use reference images? Because they will help a lot with getting the right proportions
ha ha…ya I only notice that my Nemo is fat after almost completed the creature. I am not sure how to resize it as it seems gonna affect a lot of things such as the eyes, the nose, the mouth, the hands location and maybe shape of them too. Infact I have a big problem to fit the eyes in the socket due to the not flat fish surface. So I tot maybe a bit flat face infront can help to fit the eyes easier. But not sure how I did it and it ended up so fat. Will give it a try again when I recover my stamina.
I heard that using reference images will help with the shape but I couldn’t find those with right facing (front facing & side facing) in the net. Most are persp view. Hm…maybe in the future, I should try to draw them out on paper, then scan a JPEG copy as reference (again not sure if I am that good in drawing…ha ha…will try anyway). Where do you guys get the image reference? You guys draw your own reference images?
And of yes…I do notice that the texture looks like plastic but not sure why.The eyes looks a bit fake too. Can anyone give a little help on how?
Many thanks
I like it - think he looks cute! Definitely fatter than he should be if you compare to the original Nemo but maybe all that fame and fortune went to his belly now he’s older?!
You can make it look less plastic by by turning down the specularity in the material tab and maybe you could try adding a scaly bump map to it, that should make him look much more organic and less toy-like (unless you was going for the toy look? in which case ignore me haha)
From what i can see, it shouldn’t be too be too difficult to make it thinner providing the hands are not attached to the body, should just be a case of scaling on one axis then then select the edge loops for the eye sockets (Alt + R Click on an edge), scale up on the same axis and make them round again to fit the eyes. Hope this helps
Ps. The colors in the texture look just like Nemo - if you made it yourself then you can definitely draw and you should follow Burties advice and sketch a couple of ref images.
This fat little thing finally manage to cut some fat after days of jogging and tighten up the belly belt. Planning to do some simple animation next…but…never try before. Anyone knows if there is any webside tutorial that give some couching on doing simple animation on anything (not necessary fish)?

looks like nemo ate the pie…
Here’s a reference image of Nemo…
I’m not saying that you have to get yours to look exactly like this, but it would be nice if you could get him to at least resemble the ‘real’ Nemo…
- the eyes must be larger.
- the mouth and cheeks need some work ( just check out the image so you can see what I mean).
- Pixar’s Nemo doesn’t really have any lips. (no nose either for that matter)
- get a texture or something for the skin (skales and all that).
- your Nemo is way overweight.
Frankly, I must confess that your version doesn’t remind me of the real Nemo at all.
All in all, pretty good try.
