Hey!
We just activated a new Discourse feature that we think you’ll find useful: Custom Sidebars. These allow you to add your own sections to the sidebar with your favorite links.
To set one up, click the ‘+’ button at the bottom of the sidebar:
Just add links and custom icons and you’re good to go:

Is the customized sidebar stored using a cookie or is it stored in your user preferences (which I hope) ?

Yes that one is nice indeed. Even if it would be nicer if it would scroll to the latest entries automatically. But adding a /9999 behind the thread number fixes that.
There’s a better way- just add “/last” to the end of a link
