what is that angmap for god sake?!

Ok.
The angular map, is an image, created, by Paul Debevec, for easy 3d lighting.
On blender the HDRI are not supported but you can use Other format (.jpg,.tga…ecc)
http://www.debevec.org/

this is my test, you can download for looking.

How did you get that jpg? From the hdri? if, then how?

On site, of Debevec, You find, a tool for editing and creating Hdri, form panoramic image or other type …ecc.
I have big collections of HDRI created with that tool, the name of tool is HDRShop.

outstanding! :o

Well, I think blender got to the point where witheven little effort you can’t tell anymore that an image was rendered by a free 3d application not an expensive one.

AN][ARES, I DEMAND you submit that image to the new gallery on blender3d.com. Just go to About Blender>Gallery>Submit an image. If you don’t I will kill you. Sorry. I love that image!¨

EDIT: And you too, pafurijaz! Send that amazing car to the same gallery!

New Noise Area lamp test:

i dont think a WIP version should be posted to a gallery.

crud, monkeyboi got to it first. Anyway, here is my try at blender hdri style GI. If you look closely the white box on the right is actually slightly blue, like the sky! (using skytex on the AO settings) (if you don’t see it just trust me, it really is blue) and the noise features on 10 AO and Area lamp look nice.

The sphere is a sphere’d cube, I know, I should use a nurb.
edit:> used a nurb, 16 on both settings and more AA.
And that sky is the clouds.bmp from winME.

:o .
Wow, can’t wait for this new release.

Angmap is another way of mapping textures onto the sky. It maps the texture onto the sky based on angular coordinates, instead of intersecting the texture with the skysphere. It is very useful for mapping image textures onto the sky.

yup, angmap and new ao features are great

Monkeyboi: I love that freakin’ model! Please build a scene for it! Maybe a plain with lots of grass or something. something about that model strikes me as absolutly halarious!
