With a SVN build from the 23.2. i have rendered this nice color bleeding image.
Only 1 Sun light active.
Render time: 5 minutes and 32 samples/ pixel, cache enabled.
Currently the durian coder team is still in progress to gain the internal renderer to another level.
I think it is significant for the render result how much direct light there is in the scene. In my case mostly all you see is indirect light. There are only 2 windows and one sun light. This is a very hard to calculate situation.
I would like to see a comparison against yafaray with the simple setup file if an expert got free time…
I like the new indirect SVN feature in blender, because i do not have to worry about many settings or photon setup things.
this looks amazing! is the raytraced indirect lighting only in the windows or linux builds? i just tried the latest osx build from graphicall and i get no light bleed when rendering your sample blend.
I reduced the sun-light to 1/10th and used “Color Management” - The artifacts in the corners, I think, have more to do with the mesh than the renderer.
Anyway, the new GI looks wonderful - Thanks Dev Team
@treatkor
whats special with this build? lamps are not working, its also a 32 bit app alpha0, (sculpture is working though). The official 64 bit alpha1 renders fine here (and much faster), I don’t see any GI though, how can it be, its a direct light AO renderer isn’t it? Its really good for my needs, but its a terrible renderer for architectural style (interior or exterior) renders, yafaray its much better for this purpose.
well it’s built from the render25 branch, so it has the new render improvements Brecht has been coding.
This image shows one obvious difference:
The builds from trunk do not have this (yet?). I’ll build a 64 bit version of the render25 branch today. Also, remember this branch is still a work in progress, so some things may not be working yet, consider it experimental for now.
Treatkor: that is no hijacking of (my) thread. Feel free to write about your experience with the new functions.
JDCooke2010: I have done a test rendering with the testblend file from your link. Here is my result with the special brecht SVN build from yesterday. It took my PC 2 hours and 40 minutes with 64 samples (raytracing indirect light no cache).
Yeah, the mirror ball takes a bit of time to render. Uncheck the mirror effect in the object’s material, so you can test light levels a little quicker.
Also, be sure to use “Color Management” so that the render mathematics work in linear gamma space - very important! ( you’ll find it under “Render” tab > “Shading” )
How I can turn on Emit effect / mesh light ? / in 2.51 …in 2.49b it was Radiance toolbar…when I take Emit at 1…3…12…not important, this action havent any visible results… OBJECT IS WHITE, BUT HE DONT SHINING…
