I start start to like it more and more.

Post Pro with this:

yah reflections. I am curious where the ray tracer speed improvement is currently.
That scene alone takes ages to render. grrrr

OMG 2:25.50 Render Time. The center part of the front chair
is a major slow down for what ever raytrace depth reason.

Strangely on a MacPro with two quad cores so 16 threads
it is only 1:32.04. ne might assume 16 threads are 8 times
faster than 2 threads …

  1. try reducing the ray depth.
  2. you can only use those 16 threads efficiently if you increase the number of tiles. (obviously, a few threads got left with the most intensive tiles, and the rest of the cpu was idle)

Exactly so, use even 64x64 tiles. My ‘museum’ render took ~ two min, blurry reflections etc.
Used the good old ray traced AO though. (16 threads)

BTW nice render! But where are shadows?

It would actually take much longer to render if you enabled the indirect lighting and upped the sample count to a decent amount, and even with the cache it may require lots of samples. Then it would pretty much take forever to render if you have a lot of blurry reflections.

The Durian team must not be doing renders with lots of reflections and refractions yet.

increasing threads or tiles does actual NOT improve the render time
which I find odd.

Anyway here is it with shadow and not a monster DoF

Cekuhnen, what is the resolution?(it’s like the one you posted?)
2 hours and half it’s a long time(without shadows?)

na - I was too stupid to read the next morning.
2:50,45 are two minites, 50 seconds, … lol

my fault

haha! That’s a nice mistake !
