new mat. nodes...what the heck ?

i cant seem to get the textures to work. only simple colors, and thats not all made with nodes…

im using the build from BrianH on the blender.org forum test builds

i really would like to know what they will create to use the node editor with the animation system. i just cannot understand if this will be something like the construction outline like in c4d to nest objects or if you could also exchange/link object attributes.

The node eitor is very very cool. Makes material generation so much easier.

I only think that “stencil” should be a node option too.

Guys, check the new screenshots by Ton about the new “node groups”, they can be used to make reusable effects, combining many nodes in to only one. Also they are instances so if you change one of them, you change all of them :smiley:

Holy crap! This is progressing majorly every time I look at it! Ton is a coding legend!

The nodes are great, especially now the render. I cannot wait to see what the orange team manages to produce, cosindering the level of skill.

how difficult might it be to put that into the gpu? as far as i know raytracing operations will be calculated faster than the cpu can do it in case i am not mistaken.

you know…i wonder if they are going to make a seperate release just based on the new Orange stuff ?

I have tested Maya with pixel shaders, works cool with spot lamps, etc :slight_smile:

nehpets: orange branch is considered the development vercion by now, that´s future BF 2.41. Official BF 2.4 is still in cvs freese, they are considering making a stable release with bug fixes but as far as I know there aren´t any dangerous problems by now, haven´t seen any important bug fix at bf cvs I think…

Yes Maya has pixel shaders but you have to get a programmer to create them for you (modifying existing shaders ain’t easy).

Maybe Blender has another chance to leapfrog commercial software?
