Hi, looking to create a 3D object that is basically a ribbon in space curving around and floating in air, not in a sphere but a general organic mass all intertwined. Wondering how to go about executing this with Blender or some other app/method that may be better suited. Thanks!
Thinking i might need way more basic support.
If I open up blender, add a bezier curve, go to geometry and extrude to ribbony width, if I then go to add solidify modifier and increase thickness it has rounded edges, is there a way to do this so it doesn’t have rounded edges?
If I add bezier curve, select it and convert to mesh, then edit and extrude to ribbony width I can then add solidify modifier and add thickness with flat edges but if I want to continue extruding and adding to the curve it is only straight lines and not a curved thing anymore.
I need to be able to create this ribbon material with a teeny bit of thickness to it with flat edges, and then be able to extrude and work it around in space, with the first way I am able to do this, but can’t figure out how to get flat edges, and with the second way I can get flat edges but then am stuck with extruding from the poly mesh straight line things.
Hoping someone can make sense of what I am saying. I am sure there is something simple I am missing just need a bit of help here.
Right, but it seems like your edges are still slightly rounded, how do you flatten the edge? What you are showing is basically what I am trying to do but I need the edges to be flat with no rounding.
Hmmm, it seems like if I just move the bezier bevel profile points to the top of the profile grid and bump the resolution to 30 I can get a close enough to flat edge maybe. Sorry for all the disjointed questions but I am trying to throw something together using this program for the first time and it is all coming together very organically.
So say I have this ribbon thing together, if I add a new material I see how to color the thing but is I want to color the different sides separately, so the top of the ribbon/flexy plywood stuff would be like orange, but then the back and the tiny edge sides would be the material, like wood or something. How could I accomplish this?
Thanks for the help everyone!
