New WIP- Black widow

My new little project.

Fastest blend i’ve produced so far.
Basic sculpting and rigging of legs and a quick preview with cycles preset velvet material.

Can’t wait to get stuck into the details

looks cool, I used to see those all the time out in colorado.

looks great so far. very creepy

Thanks guys.

Another update.
Added microscopic hairs, SSS to carapace and legs, sculpting and textures.
Hourglass still needs work.

High res with detail Here

Amazing model.

great job. however i will point out that all the hairs appear to be the same length.

Cheers. You’re right, With a black widow its actually pretty difficult to even spot any hair. I’m trying to achieve that peach-fuzz, matte effect that catches the light nicely. Will muck around with the hair settings and see if I can’t make it look more organic. Thanks for the input

This is the direction I’m planning on going.

Also think I’d like to add a prey item wrapped up, perhaps just after it was caught.

ah, very nice. You’re quickly becoming the artist that seems to get signifigantly better with each project. Not matter, 2 things, the body could be a tad bit shinier, and probably more bounces/resolution (I can’t remember the name, but the one that effects how many bounces the non-gloss reflections get). But other than that, very good.

I like the idea of the prey. You should definitely do it!

Thanks very much  blender is pretty damn addictive, I’ve been putting off my undergrad dissertation to do this :o Thanks for the input, i’ll try get a bit more dynamic lighting on the shiny/non-shiny parts.

I’m totally doing it, think a massive bee would be good to compare scale.

thumbs up

quick macro with DOF

I like the blur fx in this last one!

A little rig test

I think you need to turn on premultiply on the leaves.

Did some work on the Bee
Still got to fix up the wings and hair a bit.
