Ok, I took this picture tonight, of the sky with the moon and planets. Can someone please explain this to me? I have never seen a planet as big in the sky as this one. I promise this photo is original and not doctored, I only boosted the contrast and removed some noise.
Some GIMP…
I said this is not altered. It’s exactly how it came off the CCD. This is not a joke, I promise!
Looks like an ambiguous spot of blurred noise on the lens to me, shaded by the light from the moon. Pretty picture.
on Stellarium, (http://www.stellarium.org/) it shows Venus being there if you are in North Carolina

The bright dot in the lower left is obviously Venus. Ok, so I’m guessing the thing in the middle is actually a backwards reflection of the moon in the lens. Or maybe a smudge. How that happened I don’t know, but this camera doesn’t have a great lens.
yea, it does look like an inverted moon, but the thing farther below might be venus
Moon lens flare, nothing odd at all.

You’re right! I don’t know why I didn’t even consider the possibility it was a lens flare. I guess I’m used to seeing lens flares in daytime photos and not at night.
False alarm, everyone, there isn’t a giant planet about to crash into Earth after all!
Thanks for the link kkweley, that’s a nifty program!
I love Stellarium. There is also Celestia.
Celestia man meself.
But that’s obviously Cerenkov radiation from a UFO in the atmosphere Krasnikov-tunneling to its planet of origin!!!1111one
You know, the first clue that it’s not some rogue planet is that it would have been lit on the opposite side compared to the moon … last I checked, we only have one sun.
Give it a try. I prefer it over Celestia. I love looking at stars and Stellarium is the closest I can get without a telescope.
Also Google Sky has some high quality images.
The tide would be going crazy too if you live near the ocean
GAAAAHHHH!!!11eleven11
Or maybe the monolith HAS nearly consumed Jupiter and it’s getting ready to explode…
That moon is beautiful, though.
Not if it was in the earth’s shadow and the only light hitting it was bounced off the moon. But I digress…
Do not be alarmed earthlings… the item in your image is only swamp gas from Venus reflecting off a weather balloon, it is not our invasion force.
