Nini Game, Artwork and Behind the Work

Hello guys,

In 2011, i made a short animation titled “Si Nini” about a granny who sell herbal tonic and chase some guy who refuse to pay.

Now in 2015, I try to create a game based on this short movie. This is an action game about her chasing a thief in the neighbourhood. She also have to avoid several obstacle like bomb, or flying shoes or a thorny rose. But there’s also several item that can add a game points like a bag of chips, and a love balloons (i try to release it on valentine day :D)

In technical aspect, Nini re-use all the assets from the short film, i also have to create a new assets like the houses or the thief costume. All the animation were made in Blender and i create a series of sprites from it’s render sequence using the Sprite Sheet script in GIMP, you can find the script here http://registry.gimp.org/node/20943

As the game engine, i use Stencyl, because honestly i’m not a programmer, and for me Stencyl is just the right tool to create any game elements faster, i also use Ubuntu and Stencyl have +1 poin if compared to other game engine. I also will publish it in Google Play, and hopefully App Store in the future.

Here’s also a screen shot from Blender. I use 4 different camera angles. The method i use is to create four identical scene that should show Nini from Front, Behind, Left and Right camera view. And then connect the output to four different folder so i can manage it later and also for efficiency because this method only require one time render, just in case i want to create different movement for Nini, i don’t need to adjust it one by one, because the character movement will be the same across the scenes.

Finally some promotional video for the game
