Nisse from Scandinavian folklore

First personal project of 2022! A nisse from Scandinavian folklore.

My main goal with this project was to try out creating hair with haircards. It was a lot of trial and error when it came to the hair creation but it was really fun to go through the whole process. There’s still much to learn though and I look forward to try out more hairstyles for future projects!
I used Blender for modelling and hair creation and the Rigify addon to rig and pose him. Sculpting in Zbrush. Textured in Substance 3D Painter. Renders from Unreal Engine 4 with RTX.

I hope you like it!

Great job! Very well done! Very realistic. :ok_hand:
The beard could be better I think, it looks rather stiff and even all over. That should be more lively in my opinion.
But the head and hands are beautifully done. :ok_hand: The rest too.
Also beautiful colors. :+1:

Thank you MxD!
I agree regarding the beard, it was harder than I thought with this whole haircard workflow. I definitely need some more practice. I’m more used to doing hair for vfx where you can comb it and shape it a bit more easily.

When I see the rest, I’m sure that this will also work out better for you soon. :slightly_smiling_face: With a little more experience.

Love it, it actually reminds me of my childhood stories about these tricky little Christmas folk!
