Normals messed up

As this is my first post around here: Hello there blender folks :slight_smile:

As you can see in the pictures below i build a little gotic pillar but my normals are totally messed up … as they are called normals … they should be at right angle to the face … or am i wrong there … hmm?

i tried to fix it via CTRL-N but this doesn’t seem to help …

if anyone knows what todo … or what i did wrong … please tell me

I know that the display of the normals gets messed up when you scale objects in object mode (constrained to an axis). When you scale them in Edit mode, everything is ok. But I don’t know how to fix it.

Hmm… i just tried to remodel some parts, but as soon i join the new meshes with old “broken” ones the new ones get ‘y-aligned’ too …
is there a bug report about this issue?
