Ok, so I’m working on an exercise bike model. I finished all of the texturing in Substance Painter, and applied them to all of the bike parts. At first, the displacement was appearing fine in the view-port, but after I finished apply all of the textures to each material, I went back to look over the model once more, and I noticed that many of the displacement normals were no longer appearing. I know that they should be appearing, because the displacement appears in the material preview:
With normal map connected to displacement:
Without normal map connected to displacement:
And finally, here is how the object appears in the view-port both times:
Keep in mind that the displacement was visible at one point in time, however somewhere along the texturing process the displacement disappeared. If you have any ideas on how to fix this, please reply. I need all the help I can get.
make a copy of your scene, with just that object and the images included and post it here.
not seeing your nodes, your uvmaps, your textures, limits us from giving a good answer. From what I see, either your normal texture is badly encoded, or it’s not even a normal texture.
well nevermind. I was unaware that I was supposed to import the fbx file to blender after working in Substance painter. It has the nodes already set up, and all I had to do was add the textures to the node setup. It all seems to be working fine now.
