yet another pointless ray test…
and since I have been working on a stereo pair sequence plugin…
this is in 3D!
cross-eyed 3D stereo pair - just slowly cross your eyes till you see a 3D image in the center
if you have a problem, put your finger about 10" in front of your nose and just below image
focus on the tip of your finger then look up at the middle image on your monitor…
Ow, my eyes
Could you make the monkey move towards the camera and then back into the bowl? It’s cool as it is right now, but moving in the z axis as well would make it sweet
Basically all you have to do is use 2 cameras slightly apart to get a pair of pics that have a slightly different perspective. The simple (VERY!) sequence plugin that I made takes the two pics (or scenes) and puts them side by side for a stereo pair (either parrallel or cross view) I will clean up the code and compile new ones for both windows and linux and make a sample blend file in a few days if people are interested in playing with this…I would have done it before I started this thread but with the luke warm reception I got with my other 3d posts I didn’t really think it was worth the trouble to set it up for anyone else…
levon- yeah I didn’t like the transition either - it will be changed
misterbone- right! it does need a bit of z motion…
BTW it’s a chrome suzanne inside a dome made of black and white mirrors - no textures at all
I knew of this stereo image trick, even figured out how to achieve it in blender a year ago or so. Never really thought of using it in an animation though. Great idea.
I haven’t looked at the animation but from what I can see of the still there’s too many artifacts in the ray-tracing because your object (suzanne) appears to be unrealistically translucent. So basically it just looks like white noise because nothing refracts that perfectly. Just my .02
you can print the image too, then put a mirror just between the 2 images and the put your nose above the mirror, then look with one eye into the mirror, then you will have a 3d effect too
I love stero pairs - something I’ve been meaning to try with Blender for a long time but never got round to. I think your render is too big - you have to sit a way back from the screen to see it properly. Looks good otherwise though…downloading avi now !
EDIT : I liked the avi, but the suzanne part is very hard on the eyes. The more contrasting Blender logo was much better - easier to see, and appeared more 3D. Give suzanne a colour and make her reflective and I think it should be much improved. Camera movement would be nice too…
