Your code does not handle collections properly. Even a simple file with 5 objects messes up once you add a few collections.

I do not think the problem is with collections themselves, but with changes the devs made to how things are added to the list of selected objects when the collections feature was implemented.

Collections may actually help you tidy up this issue : you could collect interim “mesh” objects in a collection called “NPtempMeshes”, or something of the sort. So cleanup is a simple delete collection and hierarchy.

Thanks for looking into this. With your blend files I think I found a simpler solution that does not require collection management.

The occasional leftover mesh object is annoying. I considered something like you describe, but would prefer a solution that does not require having to use the outliner at all. I am also not sure it would be worth spending time on with the plans to have 2.81 out within the next few months. Hopefully the planned snapping features for 2.81 will make add-ons like point_move unnecessary.
