I rendered a NURBS donut primitive from the space bar menu (Add>surface>NURBS Donut). The result is shown in the attachment.
The problem is however that the donut does not render smoothly as you would expect from NURBS.
Why doesn’t have the donut a smooth shape?

Hi,
Press TAB to enter edit mode. In the Editing panel (F9 ), increase the resolution (Resol U and V values).

That worked.
If I understand correctly you have to define a resolution because you cannot render an abstract / continuous object. You have to translate it in something concrete / discontinuous.

Of course I mean discrete not concrete.

Hi,
Yep, you got it. I believe other applications might be able to render continuous surfaces, but that’s not what Blender does.
