just for a quick modeling and texturing practice really. wanted to play with the screw modifier and the dirty vertex colours.
Nice work, Small Troll!
I especially like the subtle depth of field and the embossing on the nut and bolt head.
Thanks, having DoF in the viewport is a great feature!
The embossing was harder than it should have been really, i had to bend the text around a curve path in GIMP to create the displacement maps but i couldn’t figure out if it was possible to force the text to space itself evenly around the entire path so ended up just making a shorter text and copying and rotating it after applying the original to the curve. something i should do more research on i think
It’s been a while, a long, long while, since I did anything like that in Gimp, but, iirc, you have to space things out by hand, adding spaces between letters, playing with font size, adjusting the circumference of the path… You might want to try Inkscape for that.
yes, i really should get into learning inkscape!
Very nice! They look very photorealistic.
This is brilliant! well done man, it looks like a photograph. The metal materials are spot on.
Wow! I’ve once tried to make bolds but I failed, and yours just look so realistic!
Very well done, Like it. Good choice of surface to place the metal parts on, works really well
Excellent!
As someone who has used a lot of bolts over the years, I do have to say that I think these look a little bit too “clean”, even for new bolts.
Also, most of the bolts I have used at work had subtle imperfections.
Thanks for the compliments guys
Thanks, and yes i know what you mean, there is a slight texture map on the bolts but they do look very “clean”! some scratch work may be in order. i’ll have to look into that. it would have to be very fine i think though!
