I have just been downloading royalty free .obj and blender files, from different sites but cannot enter edit mode, or cannot apply textures or nodes. Is this normal, or is a lock the creator has put on them?? Not that anyone is reading or posting my threads…

OBJ files do not have any locks on them. are you selecting the object before trying to go into edit mode?
