Hello the past two weeks or so of 2.8 builds objects are completely see through. Like in the image attached. When I use Eevee it becomes completely black. I thought maybe because I do not have a videocard. I googled my problem and another user on Stack Exchange mentioned the same problem but that thread was closed with no resolve. Has anybody else been having this problem?
PC Specs:
Intel i7-8700k
Intel graphics
32gb ram
No video card
Hi, not really helpful. @IceChest, I saw this too some time ago but cant remember how I solve it.
It is not your iGPU because it happend to me on a GTX 760.
Will take a look today and post/edit here if I find the solution.
You will need an hardware that can support OpenGL 3.3 to use EEVEE.
But with a decent videocard, I can obtain same result than in your screencapture.
I just have to set alpha slider value of Xray to zero. (Useful when you want to work with wireframes only)
Maybe you did it and saved it as a preference.
The card support OpenGL 4.5, so it should work at least.
These new iGPU are not so bad, my HD4400 was fine for Blender and it is old. @IceChest, sorry had no time to look in to. @zeauro, where is this setting?
I was sure I saw this but cant reproduce.
I did slide the X-ray slider to zero but the problem remains. I see even in today’s build the bug is still there. In the second video you can see the cube turn black with Eevee turned on and act strange when zooming.
Thank you that was a good idea but still after loading factory user settings the issue still exists.
I am not the only one to have this problem I am the third that I know of. The first one I’ve already mentioned was removed from Blender stack Exchange which was closed with no resolve. I do not know why it was closed as it is an obvious unresolved problem! Anyways the first link below is a Google search, and it is the first result. As it is closed on Stack Exchange opening it only says the page doesn’t exist.
The second link to another user having the same problem is right here on Blenderartists and this person was referenced to look at this thread.
I will start looking at how exactly to report this as a bug to the development team.
My Surface Pro 4 displays the same problem, which suggests to me that it’s likely a problem on all SP4s. Solid shading was working in Workbench on a build a few weeks back though at least.
Hi, yes report the bug with as much information you have, please.
System Info file from help menu would be helpful, for example.
May you post a link here for other user with this problem to verify the bug report.
This could be a driver problem after an update from Microsoft, check the original driver from Intel. @ChrisJones, dunno if it is possible for Surface devices too.
The GPU driver from M. are crippled or broken sometimes.
Do you know if the developers are accepting bugs from public users? From what I understood they are not. I’m thinking I will wait until the beta is released which I hope is after the codequest. This way the bug report is not lost or turned away. I found a report from August 2017 of the same problem here:
UPDATE: I did find an Intel driver update for my graphics so I am downloading now and will install to see if it’s resolved. Driver updated and it did not fix the problrm
I asked Pablo & Dalai on the Blender Today Live video if the public can submit bugs yet and they said no. August most likely. That’s a long time to wait for a fix dang…
Sorry about that, but I have to follow the tracker rules while triaging tickets, used to be blender devs only, shifted today to crashing bugs only and yours was neither.
No problem. I’m not sure they are aware of the issue, they usually have issues with the Intel chips, and they linger on awhile, just thought they might like to know before it gets too stale.
Those 2 where the same person (me). However, there is another user here (https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/112061/my-objects-are-invisible-in-blender-2-8-how-to-fix) that reports the same problem. I directed him here. I still cannot find a resolution to this. It seems that all users that report this are using intel. I tried to update the drivers to my video card, but afterwards I couldn’t use blender at all. It kept crashing. So I rolled back the drivers and blender continued to crash. I had to do a soft reformat to my hard drive. I wish I could help more.
hello,
i had the same problem, or at least, very similar. i had no video card on my pc, my apu a10 AMD works decent for no complex renders. but i then install a new video card and then i just saw the outline of the models and kinda the material default on the default cube. I was running version 2.8 of blender. I unninstall it and install the new version 2.93 and the problem was solved, i can see all as normally.
I hope this can help someone. good luck.
(sorry for my english lol)
