Object disappears randomly in Blender files, render and exported FBX are empty

Hi all, it seems that nobody is having trouble like this, I was unable to find a similar problem by googling… so here is my problem:

Randomly, when i open a blender file, my object seems to have disappeared. I see a wireframe of it (in solid mode too!), but when I render (I’m sure my object is visible on camera) there is nothing, and when I export a FBX, there is nothing too. I gave the file to someone else to see whether it is my graphic card or something like this, but it looked the same. Sometimes when I open the same file again later, everything is ok.

I’m sick of loosing my animations like this. however, it’s always the same object which disappears, so maybe something is wrong with my mesh/rigging… I’m completely new to rigging, so I know maybe my file is a little bit messy.

Related file is added. I would be happy if someone knows a solution to this.

Your mesh has no faces so it can only show as a wireframe and there is nothing to render.
Select all vertices and press F to fill in faces (blender 2.63). Check your mesh and fix any errors

I see. Thank you for helping to verify the problem. How can they disappear when I’m doing nothing else than opening the file? Unfortunately filling them is not that simple, I would have to do a lot handwork. Nothing I would like to do every time it chooses to throw away the faces. Any ideas how this can happen? I would like to prevent it, then.

Well ? What are you proposing to do then ? Currently your model is less than useless if you want to render anything. I filled with a single keystroke, see previous post, though depends on the version of blender (see below)

More info required…
What blender version (or more than one version). What settings are you using when saving ? System settings and any other info that you feel may be useful

Yes, more info: what other application are you using to export this model? Or did you model it in Blender?

…on an Asus G53S laptop. It’s running a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M and there are 8 GB RAM. I’m working on Windows. All my work is done with Blender, so this is a Blender only problem so far. When finished, I will use it in Unity. Are there any other informations that may be usefull?

For the settings in Blender, i changed nothing so far.

I can fill most of the faces by going to edit mode, hit A, then F. But there are still a lot of holes in the model that I would have to fill one by one (e.g. fingers), left aside all the wrong-sided normals. Clearly it’s better being able to repair it like that than lose the file, yes. But I’m afraid of future cases when I do not have the time to regularly repair stuff like that, so I would be happy to know how to prevent it.

I’m using Blender 2.63.0
Well blender 2.63a was a bug release after 2.63.
If that doesn’t help try using a pre bmesh version like 2.62
