Ocean modifier not animated?

Theres an ocean modifier, I can play with the settings to make some interesting looking options, and it has a “bake” effect. I assumed this would mean it would animate an ocean surface, but the bake finished in a second or two, and the whole 250 frames the mesh does not change.

Is it possible to use this to create an animated water surface? If so, can someone advise how?

To get a mesh from it → Object ->Apply ->Visual Geometry to mesh

The ocean starts moving if you animate the Time in the modifier.

To add to this- the easiest way to animate the Time is to, instead of a static number, type #frame into the time field
