Old Desk

Here’s an asset for a game I worked on briefly. This is really my first time rendering a scene in Blender. LOVE the nodes! Anyways, it’s all Blender, including the rendering engine. Textures sourced from Mayang.

Here’s a shot of the game, sorry about the low quality jpeg compression. Edit: The UI overlay is not my work.

Here’s the compositing setup: http://dim.blenderge.com/Images/finalNodes_01.png

very nice
please link to the screenshot, instead of putting it full-res on this page

Excellent point sir.

Really nice work Dim

Im going though the same stage as you it seems, getting into the node setups.
It really is a very cool flexible system, and you can get some amazing results from it, turns a boring render into something really pleasing to the eye.

Check out my thread I just posted in the finished projects forum, youll see what I mean.

Although looking at your node setup Ive realized that the way I do it is really messy and lazy, so I will need to work on that and make it more organized like you do. :spin: Once again, using your work as a reference.

You may not have made the models, but you did texture and render them.

Yes indeed. Partially my work then. Didn’t want to take credit for them though since I didn’t create them all the way through, they were much more collaborative.

Just going to give this a little bump before I let it die. Could really use some feedback.

Very nice! reminds me of that old game called the crystal key. One crit, the paper stack looks like it is floating because the shadow is very long for the paper

looks really amazing! reminds me of the myst franchise…

Thanks guys, that “Myst” aesthetic was exactly what I was going for, so I’m glad that came through.

Avenger: I see what you mean. The paper is actually set off the desk because it’s a tall stack, but it’s completely unclear, you’re right.

lol. thats pretty funny that that was your target well i gotta say you nailed it. im in middle of myst 4 now. myst 5 is the last, right? did you play it?

To be honest, I haven’t played it since the first one, almost 10 years ago (maybe 8?). Basically we were trying to capture that ultimate “Adventure” feel. The excitement of the unknown, etc.
