This is my first project in about 3 months so I thought I would get some input before posting it to the finished project section.
I used the gym from Hoosiers for my inspiration. Let me know what you think. I realize it is noisy, even with only 150 passes it took an hour and a half.
First thing that I notice is that, from what I have seen on references, basketball hoop nets are made up of diamond instead of squares.
Second thing that looks a bit off to me is the ceiling area. It looks almost like it goes from a light gym to a dark warehouse. I think the rafters would look better as a much lighter color.
Otherwise, I don’t see anything that really stands out.
No, the main thing you need to do now is: to level the floor. If you poured water onto the floor right now, it’d drip out of the lower left hand corner of the picture. The hardwood floor isn’t square: it’s an irregular quadrangle. In fact, it’s a plane that appears to be twisted in three dimensions. (I’m not saying that it is, of course, but the camera projection makes it look that way.)
A large shot like this would be taken properly with a large-format (bellows) camera. Try an orthographic projection. Or, experiment with f-stops at various distances.
Otherwise, as a basic set, it looks fine now and you really don’t need to tweak it much. On with the show… put some action into it. “Go Badgers!” Show me some Badgers …
