Old slide projector “Bajka” I’ve found in the attic that I’ve decided to make in 3D. The projector was produced at the turn of the years 1950s and 1960s in Polish town Łódź by Łódzkie Zakłady Kinotechniczne. Its main purpose was to show fairytales (as the name “Bajka” translates to) and educational materials.
I’ve made small scene to present the model. Used mostly pre-made assets and materials to speed up the process. On top of that I’ve prepared bunch of renders showing whole model and different parts from various angles as well as wireframe pictures and UV layouts.
Film rolls were made by scaning real film found in the projector and used that scan as image texture. With some shader work in Blender I’ve reached decent result.
Assets used for the scene:
Wooden chest (used as a table) - PolyHaven
Pencil - PolyHaven
Magazines - PolyHaven
Plants - BlenderKit (by fergini, rexhanscreations)
Cup of Coffee - BlenderKit (by Soheil Mahmoudi)
Scissors - BlenderKit (by rexhanscreations)
It was a great opportunity to practice modeling and texturing. This time I’ve decided to first quickly model the parts to roughly reach desired shape and then retopologize for sub-d. It was quite time consuming but I’ve managed to reach a satisfactory result. There are still some triangles here and there, but shading issues that they cause aren’t as prominent so I’ve decided to leave them in. Texturing was done using Substance Painter. For this purpose I’ve divided all parts to two separate texture sets. One was containing casing (3 parts) and all the other parts were on the second set. This allowed me to use 2k resolution for my maps that provided really nice details.
Modeled all parts in Blender. Textured using Substance Painter.
