Old St.Paul's (16th Century)

Hello Friends!
I’m updating my Portfolio, for the first time in… 20 years (given or taken).

This is a virtual reconstruction of the Old St.Paul’s cathedral as it was in the 16th century.
It was 3D modeled by me for Lithodomos VR (https://www.lithodomosvr.com), based on the knowledge and papers they provided. All made with Blender and rendered with Cycles.
I’ve also textured it for this specific render, trying to mimic the look in the video, but aren’t the same materials/textures.

Render specifically created for portfolio purposes only. The model was used with permission.

A video, from Lithodomos, featuring it can be seen here (at 00:28):

If you fancy the times of old and would like to visit them, as they were in all their glory, you’ll have a blast here: https://www.ancient-world.co

Hope you like it!
Until the next one!

The only thing more amazing than renders like these is – the cathedrals themselves.

Hehe! Thank you very much for your nice words! I like them very much and have worked in a few others

Whether it’s “early technology” or “ancient architecture,” computer graphics (Blender!) enables us to show a modern audience a window into the past … “as though it was today.” What a privilege, eh?

In this case, this cathedral has burned to the ground, so only VR will provide the near approximated feeling of the real thing  I’ve seen it with the VR goggles and it’s great!

…anyway, just to be crystal clear, this model/render wouldn’t be possible without all the Lithodomos background research made by their team of talented archaeologists. It’s modeled by me but all the intelligence came from Lithodomos. For me at least it was indeed a big privilege!

I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
