A scene inspired by one of my favorite songs sung by one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite musicals, Les Misérables. Éponine, a young lady going through hard times, sings of her unreturned love for her friend Marius, a young man who’s in love with someone else.
I set the scene at the river Siene near Pont Neuf in France (Google Street View came in handy). It seems fitting, as the song includes the lyrics,
'In the rain,
The pavement shines like silver.
All the lights are misty in the river.
In the darkness,
The trees are full of starlight.’
I imagine at the beginning of the song, Éponine wanders through the streets, and then goes down to walk along the Siene and under Pont Neuf, before turning around the bend and going up the steps to the statue of King Henri IV. I have, however, never actually seen a production of Les Misérables, so I don’t l know how this scene is portrayed in it.
This scene was rendered in EEVEE. The hair are meshes with a stretched noise texture and bumpmapping, and an alpha gradient at the ends, distorted by a stretched noise texture.
