in the next month i will be spending one year with blender.i started blending sometime around mid-august last year…and time just flew like water…now it’s one year!!i will be putting some images that i made in the recent time very soon…including the t-rex,a ferrari car and a lowpoly man.
it will be two years for me in october.

August 4th through the 5th (4th, found out and downloaded, 5th, actually used it–and got extremely confused) will be my Blender Birthday. Hey, maybe I’ll donate on one of those days (supposing I can get my parents to donate $50)!
approxematly three and a half years since i first downloaded it. 8)
That isnt the amount of time since i first understood it.
Heck to a certain amount i still dont understand it
Wow, this is crazy, but a signifigant portion of my life has been spent blending. I first read about it when it was linux only (er, I think it was for other OSes too, just not windows) and I was still using pov-ray. As soon as it was available for windows, I downloaded it right away. This was about the time of the cd-key, so I think I can say it’s been over 3 years, but I can’t really quantify the amount of time any more:)
Gameblendering since gameblender was first introduced a little under two years ago, so probably the best guess as to how long I’ve really been into it is about 2 years.
Sure doesn’t feel that long though!
I first downloaded blender 1.67, but didn’t understand anything of it.
Only later with blender 1.80 I was motivated enough to learn the program. I don’t know how much time ago that is though.
3 years here. Downloaded it in 10th grade, learned how to use the basics summer of 10th grade.
I begin using blender 2 year ago but…after two week I wasn’t able to make “GREAT” model so I didn’t used it for one year…but in october 2001 just for fun I rebegin to use it and I used almost everyday…it is like a drug… :o
so i’m one of the youngest blender users here…and one of the finest too 8) .i used subsurfs after i downloaded blender2.22 sometime around november last year…and i became a SUBSURF-GURU(atleast i think so ).life is truely more exiciting than fictions.
I’m also new to Blender… I mean I’m actually very new to Blender. And ohh the fustraition I go through. If there was one thing i could do for Blender was just, customize the entire interface… if I could thats what I would do. I don’t understand why the company would purposely make such interface. I mean… its obvious that Blender company’s goal was fustraiting newbies into beating down their little sisters. Their plan worked pretty well. But my goal is modeling Sonic the Head hog.
I almost understand the program now, but just in pain from the side effects of high-term fustraition.
I think just about everybody goes through that kind of initial frustration. I know I was dumbfounded by the interface when I started, but after a bit of practice you begin to understand the logic behind the design. Keep at it.
I looked at Lightwave 7.0 the other day (my brother’s roomate had it) and thought: “The Blender interface is much easier to understand”. Crazy thoughts, huh? However, I think I was somewhat hampered by my tendency to use Blender commands/short-cuts for the controls! Ha ha, my bad.
The members of this site have contributed numerous tutorials — try them out. Believe me, they can help you through the sticky spots.

Same here. I was EXTREMELY confused by everything in Blender. For example, where was the “human head” model?
I later learned how to do things, and now I think it works pretty well for me. Now, if only I could stop being lazy and begin all of my little projects!
PS: Never used another 3D suite, mainly because of the PRICES! It never made much sense to pay about $3000 for something when I could just as easily download something free of charge.
5 months here(i think) i don’t remember when exactly i started using blender…but i’m new!he he!
ps: and by the way,a forum monkey already! he he!
It’ll be a year for me too. That’s when I bought my PC. I can’t see any other way of making 3d content other than Blending it.
3 years in september/october for me.
well, let’s see… i first heard about blender back when i was in grade 7… i downloaded it, then got really confused and deleted it. about a year later i downloaded it again (i admit it was because i heard of the upcoming ‘gameblender’) and that’s when i really started. so that was about 3 years ago. and i still suck!
oh well. i gotta start using blender more now, haven’t actually finished a “project” in a while.
Almost the same story here
SIGGRAPH 99, really pissed with Animation Master and looking a cheap alternative when those guys from NaN gave me a CD, then ask me if I want to buy a tutorial book, Ha! that’s the trick I thought, I can learn the program alone in home, then I had to wait a year long to buy the book and the turorials, thats better!
three week or three years… how am I to tell?
I started CG four years ago with pure (notepad!) pov-ray. Gathered some experience there, then went on looking for a nice modeller… found blender, downloaded and tested it, but I was so confused that I went on to Moray… until I needed something more advanced…
This was when I went back to blender two years ago, learned its basics and found it to be a great tool!! (I still miss moray’s material editor, though…

In Siggraph 99 I took a CD of Blender 1.66 from NaN’s booth and since then 'till now. 'Till 3 years more & more …
