Original character design help

I’m having a tough time getting the beginning of this model correct and it’s driving me b-a-n-a-n-n-a-s!

I’ve been working on this concept for about three years now, first it was 2D animation “a 'la” Family Guy, then I figured I’d try it in 3D since I had been working with Blender too ( plus 3D animation is sooo much easier). So here’s Bigfoot ( haven’t got a proper name for him yet, any suggestions would be cool )

And here’s what I’ve gotten in Blender…

I’m trying to get that cartoon look to him and keep the edgeloops intact for animation. Every time I get past this point I screw it up, of course I haven’t tweaked this model yet.

I need some independent eyes to get this right, and I need to get it right.
Like I said this is a start and my first posting of work ( so, be gentle ) If the model doesn’t live up to the spirit of the drawing let me know…and if there’s any techniques anyone knows of to help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

namaste.

ok it looks pretty good, a wire would help so we can see the edgeloops. As for getting ready for animation i find its easier (Im sure others will agree with me) if you make any expressions you have in mind eg, the smile, afterwards, making the expression neutral to start.
As for a name how about Joe Bananas?

You’ll need a jawline in the correct location to tie the rest of the face together. Start under the chin, then run a ribbon of faces back along where the lower jawbone would be, curve it up in front of the ear location, then loop it over the forehead along the hairline, well, this guy doesn’t really have a hairline, but if he did… and then join the loop at the top of the forehead.

As midgitmike said, seeing edgeloops would help, since the animatablitiy of the model depends so heavilly on edgeloops. Don’t bother with a render, just do a Ctrl+F3 screen shot of the model in edge select mode.

Here you go you guys, a good four way view with the loops (sorry, should have had one earlier)

I did some tweaking on the model - as I said, I’m scared to go any further until I know I have the loops and look right…if you look at the sketch the jawline kinda rounds into the skull and I’m gonna have problems with that
Also I’m gonna need some help with the eyes so any suggestions the would be fantastic.

Up till now I’ve been doing static models just to learn just to learn principals, I have a whole new admiration for those of you who can pull an animatible model out in under an hour (my jealousy) ->

Thanks for the input.
