Outliner Sort Order quirk

Something that drives me bonkers is that the Outliner will sort shorter names after longer ones. This is weird. English orthography expects shorter words before longer ones when
shorter[:] == longer[:len(shorter)].

Foozle One
Foozle Two
Foozle

tl;dr: why is “Foozle” last?

Is this a bug that I need to report?

It also annoys me that the forum software treats nbsp as ordinarily breakable.

Things such as this are usually not regarded as bugs, but “how it was made to work”.

But, Devs are currently reworking various things about Outliner sorting, so maybe this will change.

This doesn’t happen on my end… Are you sure you have “Sort Alphabetically” checked?

Huh, looks like it is something weirder than I thought.

I did have “Sort Alphabetically” checked, but unchecking it and rechecking it seems to have fixed the issue.

Now I cannot get it to manifest again.

I guess we’ll have to chalk it up to stray neutrinos or something.
