Thank you so much for the comments guys! I trully appreciate them!
Hi there, thank you for such a thoughtful comment!
You’re absolutely right, the Moon’s orientation relative to the Earth and the camera isn’t fully accurate in the image. I do try to keep things grounded in reality, but in this case I made a conscious artistic choice.
I chose to show the familiar Earth-facing side because it’s more recognizable and visually interesting, with its distinct patterns and colors. It helps communicate the idea of the Moon more clearly and supports the overall mood of the piece.
So the decision was driven more by aesthetics and storytelling than strict accuracy. I really appreciate you taking the time to look so closely and share your observation!
What incredible timing! This is probably the very same breathtaking view the Artemis 2 astronauts are witnessing right now!
Great work ![]()
It would be interesting to see if he can recreate the earthrise photomontage/picture the Nasa posted from the Artemis II mission. The distances are roughly available, only the lenses used for the Nasa picture are not known … i think.
The lens used is a 80-400 mm at 400 mm on a Nikon D5.

Thank you guys for such amazing and inspiring comments! While the timing of my post was in all honesty accidental, I have followed the lunar mission closely, and decided to try myself out with the proposed challenge since I already had all the assets prepared, you can see the results here! ![]()
You’re on the featured row! ![]()
That’s wonderful, I’m truly honored, thank you very much! ![]()
Love how minimal and simple the composition is! And it makes the details of the moon stand out even more ![]()
Appreciate it! I had a lot of fun focusing on the small details and playing with colors!
