The big Blender Sculpt Mode thread (Part 1)

I read a lot of good points here. I agree with @Zino.G that we should keep the discussion respectful, towards each other and towards Pablo and the other devs. We’re just having a good discussion, I like that.

Let’s also not ignore that Pablo’s Dyntopo maniphest offers a number of solutions, and is not just about deprecating Dyntopo. I can imagine his frustration regarding Dyntopo’s speed issues. Looking at the development path Pablo is following, he’s layering his own fresh solutions onto old parts of Blender’s Sculpt Mode, where Dyntopo in its current shape is one of the things that makes it harder to turn Sculpt Mode into a real ZBrush competitor.

But Blender’s Sculpt Mode, like every part of Blender, is for everyone, and lots of users love Dyntopo, so in my humble opinion Pablo and the other devs owe it to their backbone, the Blender community, to come up with a solid, attractive follow-up to Dyntopo, offering at least the same functionality, and preferably more.
