Exactly as the title says, I was in the middle of touching up the textures of a model of mine and at some point, possibly when I left texture paint mode to tweak the model itself a bit, all my edits vanished and reverted to the original texture.
Keep in mind, I did not restart or reopen the project once during this, and I had previously packed the texture, so its not like I forgot to save an external image when closing. I even double checked to make sure I hadn’t accidentally unpacked it or something similar, and indeed, it is exactly as I left it. I even saved my project multiple times during this too (which should also save the packed textures), so its not like I reverted the project file somehow.
Happened in Blender 4.2.0; I don’t really have any screenshots for this since, well, all you’d see are my old textures, exactly as they were before I started making my edits today.
I even went digging through my %temp% folder to see if an autosave in there managed to rescue them, but it was the exact same as my current file - unedited, as if it was using an external texture that wasn’t packed.
I’ve never had any issues with this before and am absolutely baffled. Thankfully its only about an hour’s worth of texturing rather than multiple, but I’m still disappointed and frustrated. Has this happened with anyone else? What could’ve possibly gone wrong?
