I’m not sure I get it 
The color palette is created after pressing the G key.
If you want to save the color palette, you need to change its name, because the result is always written in the palette named Palette Generator

Well, for starters, the cursor MUST be over the 3dView window, not the Color wheel or the Node Editors. Perhaps for long time users that’s a given, but not to me.
