Hey, there! I’m Dirk, a comic creator turned animator and Blender enthusiast.
I’m working on a new animated short film in Blender, and I wanted to use this as a chance to introduce myself to the community.
Paradigm Shift: Chinatown is an adaptation of a pivotal scene from my graphic novel series, and it’s been really, really fun bringing it to life.
Anyway, I hope you’ll give it a watch, and hope to share what I’ve learned here going forward.
This is great! I’m feeling “The Wolf Among Us” vibes. The animation is actually standout, I think you captured the comic book movement and dynamism really well. There’s only two shots that don’t feel right. The second and third. The camera is very static, and they feel out of place from the rest. Other than that, I’m looking forward to more.
Thanks so much! Glad you like it. Fair point about the first two shots. I might play with those when I go to final version of the scene for the film. I’m deliberately trying to keep the camera shots simple so they read more like 2D animation when I can.
Anyway, I’ll definitely post more progress on the project as I go!
