Performance of 4 engines of blender

This video demonstrates the performance of 4 Blender game engines. BGE 2.79b, UPBGE 0.25b, Range Engine 1.5a and UPBGE 0.36.1.

Only meshes and textures are being tested. Which is the basics for any game engine.

In the video description there are the engine test files and 2 text files, one in Portuguese and the other in English providing more information.

Sadly one has to sign in at google drive to get the data ??
Edit:
But then all the “results” are visible at 10:00 … :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The videos are living proof that the test took place. Because many will question the results. And to prevent this from happening, there are videos proving the tests. In addition, there are test files in .blend of the engines used. Just download the engine and test it out for yourself. Or create your test based on the text file you have on Google Drive explaining how it was done.

Table 1 (top) are the maximum and minimum fps values recorded during the tests. Table 2 (in the middle) are the averages between these minimum and maximum fps values found in table 1. Table 3 (in the Graph) demonstrates table 2, but with bar graphs demonstrating the average frames per second for each type of texture resolution. Showing that the old Blender Game Engine is better for processing the basics of a 3D engine, which are meshs. In second place is the Range Engine, which brought improvements to the UPBGE 0.25. UPBGE 0.36.1 is worse at doing the basics.

Interesting. Regarding UPBGE 0.43, it’s way slower than 0.36, so expect even worse results. Also it would be interesting to see Armory there, but it walks quite further away from BGE and uses different programming language and renderer. Also it probably doesn’t support any Blender-specific features at the moment like modifiers or constraints or particle systems, so one might as well just use Unity or Godot or whatever else at that point.

What versions of Blender did you use for the recent versions of the engines in the tests?

I recorded the videos using my cell phone to avoid performance interference due to screen recorders like OBS Studio. My PC has low specs. Blender Game Engine, despite not being updated, is still a great option for creating projects that do not have modern effects. If without an optimization system, it is already better than the others in performance and for a weak PC, imagine using a high specs PC and using map optimization techniques. Well, I believe your project will fly. Because performance is everything. That should be the concept of the current gaming industry. Always aim for performance.
