Photorealism, Luxcorerender or another?

I left 3dsmax for Blender and I’m delighted, but I had a great renderer, Maxwell. I say great because my projects have to be photorealistic and Maxwell is the best at that, but unfortunately he doesn’t exist for Blender :fearful:.

So I dug around a bit and it looks like Luxcorerender is also based on the same realistic philosophy. It seems to handle caustics just fine, and some reflections that even industry heavyweights don’t. The problem is that its updates are rare, however it is made by incredible and talented volunteers.

All this to ask you if I’m wrong or if there is equivalent or better elsewhere?
I put you 2 examples, one with caustics, and the other showing the reflections created by a metallic material, these 2 “realistic” effects being almost non-existent in the competition, tell me if I’m wrong? (Pictures from the youtube link below)

This thread might be worth a look:

Interesting yes! I’m actually making very nice things with Cycle too…Did you have a look on my link, it shows different render and luxcorenderer is clearly outstanding for caustics…
