In the preferences/interface tab there an option to rotate around selection. but its either on or off & I prefer to manipulate my models with it off. however sometimes in edit mode I just want to pivot around the selected vert. is there a hotkey or way to do this?
Its not a pivot option.
Numpad . will allow you to rotate around the selected vertex
I’ve never heard of anything that did that. But you could probably write a small python script that did that. Pablo recently made a couple of python vids.

Okay that works I guess. I think the option to toggle modes whilst modelling would be nice tho So I didnt have to press that with every vert. Maybe I can figure that out in python. Thanks
EDIT jrkirby sorry didnt see your post. yes I figure just a addon shortcut to switch the preferences option on and off.
