Playing AVI in windows

Hi all,
I was wondering, does someone have a codec or something to play AVI’s? Preferably in windows media player… I’m running the default windows media player for XP…

avi files should play in xp without any special codec. if you want to play divx avi files though (it is very popular) you need the divx codec (available from www.divx.com). Version 5.0.2 is the newest.
