Please critique on a star wars droid

Hello!

I’m new to blender and this is my first big project. I tried to make it realistic, but i feel like it’s missing something. Can you please give me some opinions and tips to improve it?

Thank you

I think it looks really good overall  First suggestion- add a bevel modifier or bevel your edges manually, you have perfectly sharp edges that don’t really match the rusted look of your model. This alone will take this from a really cool render to a showstopping render, bevels are extremely important  After that, I think you need some bloom or glare from the eyes. If you’re using Eevee, turn on the bloom checkbox in the render settings- with Cycles, you can just turn your emission up. You can also add extra glare in the compositor with a Glare node. I’d recommend it here, especially if you’re going for a classic Star Wars look (film in the 80s picked up a lot of glare!)

The modeling and texture are pretty great. What I would change is the presentation of the image. The character is dark and is placed on a white background, which makes it quite harsh on the eyes. I would play with the exposure settings and make the droid brighter as well as try it on a darker background.

You helped me so much!!! It looks much better with a glare. Also I’ve already started beveling the edges, but I haven’t had enough time to finish it yet. Much thanks for your help.

I’m really grateful for your reply. You got a good point with the background and composition of the scene. I will try to make some lava lanscape. Much thanks!
