Poliigon add-on : no displacement?

So I’ve been using the Poliigon add-on for a while, but with materials that have little to no visible displacement.

Today I tried a “pebble beach” type material, I downloaded all the textures includint 16-bit displacement and normals, and loaded them on a plane with plenty of faces. It seems everything is correct in the node set-up, so I’m not sure why there is no visible displacement.

Would anybody be able to have a look and help me out here? I must be doing something wrong, but can’t put my finger on it.

Hello Janneman

In 2.79b you first need to activate the experimental settings

  • Render Tab (Properties Panel), under Display, in Feature Set select Experimental.

In 2.79b, 2.79 daily and 2.80

  • Material Tab → Settings → Geometry → Select “Displacement Only” or “Displacement and Bump”

Hope this helps.

Wow, I never knew. Thank you so much!!

EDIT:
I finally figured it all out. Here’s a very short tutorial I made.
Turns out you also need to change Tangent space to Object space in the nodes.
And in the material Settings, set displacement to “True”.
And after that tab in and out of edit mode to update the mesh.
