Blender’s boolean operations are like a very bad plane crash.
Is there a simple way to convert the tri’s to quad’s again? I tried selecting all and then using the menus and selecting convert to quads. Nothing.

There is a script around that gives better results:
Though it pays to do a little ‘pre’ planning.
For instance, if you’re subtracting an UVSphere from another mesh, it’s best to keep the poles pointing away from where you want to make the operation for a cleaner result.
Did you recalculate normals also?
No, the normals are fine. I just want my quad’s back. Thanks for the script link. I’ll give it a try.
