Could someone give me a real quick run through of how to get the files created with POVAnim from Blender to work in MegaPOV. I just downloaded all of these today. I got all of the necessary files that are supposed to be created with POVAnim, but I can’t understand what to do next.

I tried getting Google to translate the POVAnim pages from French, but that wasn’t much help.

More Info:
I ran the ini file like I believe I was supposed to and got the following error:

#include matTrueAPOV_R12jv.inc

Should this have been created by running POVAnim?

Look after the meganim/directory, and run “main-yourfile-.ini” with megapov.

Very surprised: there is an english translation (better than the Google one) with the main page. Try to activate the “tooltips” to see the GUI’s help .

Thanks for looking into (and fixing) the problem with creating the inc file that I couldn’t find.

What do you know, the english was right there on the page, I guess I saw some of it in French and assumed that it all was. I’ll look a little closer next time.

When I get home tonight I’ll give the new script version a try. Thanks again.

Try to use the file:
“mainTrueAPov_R12kv.ini”

Look at the doc:

the red bold line:

" CAUTION! VERY IMPORTANT!
To render the image, you do need to open and run the ’ main’ +basename+‘.ini’ file with povray or megapov"

I opened POVray and then opened the mainTrueAPov_R12kv.ini file and clicked run. The script ran and then stopped at the same place in the same file:

meshTrueAPov_R12kv.inc

“//Mesh number: 1
#declare Cube_001 = mesh2 {…”

just before the mesh2

and the error says

"error cannot assign uninitialized identifier "

I get the same error with povray 3.1g. Povanim is only compatible with povray3.5 and megapov0.7. Download the megapov 0.7 patch: http://nathan.kopp.com/download.htm and unzip the archive in the bin directory of your povray version. Make a short cut and use megapov.exe to render without probleme.

Note that if you choose “megapov”, files are exported in the “yourdirectory/meganim” directory.

Well I just like to say i’m an ass!!!
I though I had downloaded POVray3.5 but it seems i didn’t. I’ve tryin to get Povanim to work for ages but didn’t realise i had the wrong PovRay version!!!Povanim works great now.

— GUI layers buttons didn’t work correctly.
— mesh without texture made script crash.

Known bug not fixed:
— animation of duplicated meshes with alt-D is not exported
