Good idea Craig, I’ll see if I can make something for it
Harley: Hmm seam wasnt the right word I guess, my English isnt that good so I get confused by the words sometimes. I havent actually made any seams for it, what i meant was the transition from the end of the cushions to the rest of it. Does that make any sense? Otherwise I’ll upload a picture to explain myself better
Did you get a second wind? Looks good, might toss a few crates in there for loading out, also some barrels - word of advice from lessons Derek and I learned: make a single crate and a single barrel, then use alt-D instances to keep the memory form climbing
I think the first one is appealing, because it widens the view into space and suddenly the whole scene is situated somewhere. The fire extinguisher is a really good thing. I wonder if the extinguisher would do an even better job if it is placed more to the foreground but still along that wall.
These renders where just to show off what I have in mind for the surroundings, not suggestions for final renders. But I totally agree with your about the view into space, is a lot more appealing. I’m not done adding props to the scene, and wont begin making final placements for them before I have all I want in there. But yes, the extinguisher should be brought out a bit more
Added a few things, added some details and had some fun rendering wireshots for the terminal in the back. Nobody will ever notice, but it was fun making them
I’m really glad that a couple of days away from this project, has given me new motivation to keep it at the standard I wanted instead of skipping stuff here at the end. The encouragement from you guys has helped me a lot as well
1st pic is 1000 samples and it took 3½ hour and the 2nd one is 600 samples and render time was almost 3 hours
Things I need to fix:
Stretching textures on the pipes.
The barrels need some dents
The steps need some dirt and cracks
And I’m wondering if I should place a glass material in the window, but I’m afraid it will increase render times and noise…
What do you guys think? I’m pretty unsure with some of the materials, and havent decided if I’m gonna keep them or not. So comments are highly appreciated.
WOW… it’s really looking nice! You have made big time progress on the scene… looks so much better than that studio environment.
You mentioned the stairs… the first thing that stuck out to me is how sharp the edges were in the stairs… it would be worth a little extra time to make them not so sharp when you go to do the other texturing. The only other thing I would at least consider is desaturating the blue space somewhat… seems a little too blue, but I would be curious what others think. I like the pinup girl
Thanks Harley, I’m glad that you like it. I will fix the stairs later this week, and try out some settings for the space view.
I do think that when I introduce some dof for the final renders, the scene is gonna look better becuase you wont really see that detail is lacking in some places.
Maybe for the window you could bulge the glass out slightly into a bubble shape like old TV screens, so even if it were super low-poly it would be able to catch highlights from a fairly simple lighting model.
Very well done, looks pretty realistic. Just one suggestion would be to add a fill light from the rear right. These parts of the loader are a bit dark now.
Just a nitpicky thing I guess… If it isn’t too much of a hassle I would make your window frame deeper… it seems kind of thin. I didn’t notice it the last time I looked at your renders… but I love all those blue wires coming from the ceiling… nice touch.
What happened to your stairs? … maybe there just not visable in this angle.
A lower, wider camera angle might work better. At the moment it’s a little high, like it’s shot from the point of view of a dude on a step ladder, which doesn’t give as much of a sense of scale.
I also added a bit of dept to the window frame, but I’m not sure it’s visible enough?
I’m trying out renders both with and without the stairs, as I’m 100% sure I like them in there…
My suggestion is to definitely keep the stairs, I prefered it closer to the loader, like you had it before… like maintenance is being done… just soften the edges of the stairs (if you haven’t already) but in this last render the stairs looks like it is floating above the ground plane… so does the blue cabnet at least in this render/camera view.
Moved the stairs back to the Loader, and changed the mat on the wheels under it so that the stair dosnt look like it’s floating. I think I’m getting close to at least one of my final renders, as I think this can get pretty good with some PP
Very good, but the fill light is too much now. It should be more subtle, something between your first and the last render, but more close to the dark one. Just a little bit.
